Ferrari beats competitors already in tests

Ferrari surprises competitors in Formula 1 tests

Not so long ago, F1 tests started in Bahrain and now the teams have nothing to hide all the new technical solutions. On the contrary, they need to be actively tested in order to understand in which area it is worth developing and improving. And all three competitive days are allocated for this. And then in Bahrain will be the first Grand Prix. And almost immediately, the Ferrari team was able to surprise everyone with a detailed nose of the car.

It was noticeable, when accelerating on the starting line, quite unexpectedly, the front part is simply deformed. And when braking, for example, on a turn, the nose returns to its original position.

And immediately discussions arose, but what is it and how does it all happen? If this is an innovation, then it is legal, and in general, it is worth understanding everything.

In theory, the deformation of the nose should reduce drag, but this creates problems. Immediately there is no understanding of how to manage it and cope with air currents. And also this kind of deformation of the nose can be regarded as the use of active aerodynamics by the team. And it is simply forbidden by the rules.

But the Scuderia immediately noted that the deformation was not included in the plan of the developers.

The notorious F1 technical specialist Albert Fabrega spoke about this. It all consists in the presence of a special stub panel, and the absence of structural elements. And to reduce the mass, the team’s specialists have advanced very far, and that is why the nose began to deform. There are no positive moments here, since we are talking about a violation of air flows. In the end, the element may simply burst, and this is already dangerous.

And with a high degree of probability, the engineers will simply strengthen the structure and that will be the end of it. There is really no drama in this, and no attempt to create a flexible element. But everything needs to be fixed.

And with this in mind, no proceedings regarding violations should be expected.
